2020 has presented multiple walls to maneuver around mentally, socially, and physically. I always seem to go to comfort foods in such times. Although my waistline seems to be protesting, there are ways to keep it healthy if you keep your menus seasonal.

Autumn is a great time for soups made from root veggies and the numerous squashes available. Try to incorporate fresh fruit as well. Apples, pears, blood oranges and tangerines, figs (the perfect food), and persimmons are all readily available.

Try a polenta cake the uses cornmeal for a nice texture with any of the above fruits as a topper.

This one is topped with persimmons from my own tree.

Have fun!
